From the Principal

Dear families,
As we approach the halfway mark of Term 4, it’s incredible to reflect on the energy, enthusiasm, and growth we’ve seen across our school this term. The final term of the year always brings a special kind of momentum, and 2025 is no exception!
Today, on October 31st, our students proudly participated in the Day for Daniel, wearing red and engaging in important conversations and activities around child safety and awareness. This national day of action is a powerful reminder of the importance of educating our children about personal safety in a way that is age-appropriate and empowering. We thank our staff and families for supporting this initiative and helping our students feel safe, informed, and confident.
Celebrating World Teachers’ Day
This week also marks World Teachers’ Day, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the heart of our school – our teachers. We are incredibly fortunate to have six dedicated and caring educators who go above and beyond every day to support our students:
- Miss Madison Spencer
- Miss Darcy Barnes
- Mrs Maree Twidale
- Mrs Anne Anderson
- Mrs Ina Winter
- Mrs Liv Osborne
Each of these wonderful teachers brings warmth, wisdom, and a deep commitment to nurturing the learning and wellbeing of every child. Their passion for education and their unwavering support for our students is what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow. Thank you for all that you do!
As we continue through the final weeks of 2025, let’s keep celebrating our achievements, supporting one another, and making the most of every moment.
Warm regards,
Liv Osborne
Acting Principal

New Blue Card rules for parent volunteers - an important update
From 20 September 2025, some parent volunteers will now need a Blue Card depending on the type of activity they’re helping with at school. In cases where a Blue Card is required, you will need to show your Blue Card to us prior to volunteering so that we can link it to the school.
When a Blue Card is NOT needed.
- If you're helping only in your own child’s classroom eg reading groups, you don’t need a Blue Card.
When a Blue Card IS needed.
- Helping with children other than your owneg assisting in the library or other classrooms.
- Attending overnight camps or excursions, even if your own child is going, you must have a Blue Card.
- Activities involving close personal contact with other children eg helping with toileting, assisting young children to change clothing at swimming lessons, volunteering in the uniform shop where close contact may occur.
- If you are a restricted person. A restricted person is a person who either
- has been issued a negative notice
- has a suspended Blue Card
- is a disqualified person
- has been charged with a disqualifying offence that has not been finalised, or
- is the subject of an adverse interstate Working with Children Check decision that is in effect.
Congratulations Amelia Walker!
Our very own school leader, Amelia Walker has been selected as a winning entry in the Queensland Farm Safety Calendar competition! Congratulations Amelia!
A message from James Lister - MP Member for Southern Downs
I'm a proud MP today!
A huge congratulations goes to Amelia Walker from St Maria Goretti Primary School Inglewood whose artwork "Never Let Kids Ride on an Adult Sized Quadbike" will feature in the 2026 Farm Safety calendar. Congratulations to Amelia.
The Crisafulli Government is proud to support young Queenslanders who are helping to build safer and strong communities.
The Farm Safety calendar competition is a great example of how Queenslanders look out for one another. This year, there were a record-breaking 2,514 entries received from more than 140 primary schools in Queensland. So, to have not one but two students included in the calendar is terrific.
This competition is about creative young minds promoting the importance of farm safety and getting such a response with a record-breaking number of entries is very encouraging. By encouraging our next generation to think about risks and safe behaviours early, we’re building a strong culture of care and awareness across rural and regional Queensland.

Year 5 and 6 students will be writing and publishing reviews of their favourite book in the library database to inform and encourage other readers.
Our Read-aloud novel for Years 3-6 is Runt and the Diabolical Dognapping which continues the story of the Shearer family and their clever, award-winning dog Runt. Book 1 Runt, available in our library, makes a great family read and was released as a family movie late last year.
