From the Acting Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 3! As I begin my time as Acting Principal for Semester 2, I want to say a big thank you for the warm welcome and wonderful support you’ve shown me so far. It’s a privilege to be part of this special community here at St Maria Goretti and I feel honoured to be in a position to lead and support our community for the remainder of 2025.

We’ve experienced a few changes recently across the school, and your patience, openness and partnership have helped create a smooth path forward for everyone—especially our students. Thank you for being part of that journey.

A highlight so far this term has been our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser. What a fantastic effort from our students, staff and families! Together, we’ve already raised $2,585 for the Heart Foundation, and we couldn’t be prouder. It is such a joy to see the children having fun, showing off their skipping skills, and making a difference all at once. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and cheered us on. A special thank you to Miss Madison Spencer for stepping up to organise this fundraising event with our community this term.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on fostering a learning environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired. With your continued involvement and enthusiasm, I know this term will be one filled with connection, growth and great memories.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Warm regards,
Liv Osborne
Acting Principal

Library in Term 3

Our reading adventure has begun! We will be enjoying weekly browse and borrow sessions to choose free choice books for home reading, along with some class read-alouds and student book recommendations.

We celebrate wonderful Australian children's books during Week 6 with the annual Book Week dress-up parade on Thursday 21st August. The theme this year is "Book an Adventure" so there is plenty of scope for simple costumes based on everyday adventures, as well as adventures only possible through story.

I am looking forward to exploring the short-list for the book awards with our students and to celebrating all things books and reading across the term.

Happy Reading at Home

Anne Anderson

Teacher Librarian
